Friars Cliff, Christchurch

Friars Cliff at Christchurch (Steamer Point) is a long pebble beach with a promenade, this is why we suggest parking at Steamer Point this being the closest car park to the Beach Hut.

The Steamer Point car park is located off Penny Way Road and standard car parking charges apply. From the car park there is a good path down to the huts. Beach Hut No.156 on the back row. The huts in front of us have the promenade right  outside their doors, which can be busy. We haven't managed to get a ramp sorted yet but the hut is fairly easy to access.  Apologies to those of you for whom this is essential. We are trying to sort it out. The shutter that lowers onto the decking is quite heavy so please be careful.  There is a 7 inch step up onto the decking which for some maybe worth noting. Once inside the hut is equipped with a full size changing bench. There are two chairs and a few seaside toys! Friars Cliff has a reasonably priced cafe on the promenade.  The toilets are near the cafe.
Near the car park is Steamer Point Nature Reserve – with lovely accessible walks and a small visitor centre.

Knoll Beach, Studland (Near Swanage)

Knoll Beach at Studland  (nr. Swanage)  is a National Trust Estate, (no, we are not on the section for nudists, that's towards Shell Bay!) There are charges for admission and car parking unless you are a National Trust member. The beach is soft and sandy. To get to our hut, No.28, park alongside the large disabled parking area, situated to the left of the Visitor Centre. The hut is by the pathway that goes through the dunes. A new and improved ramp for wheelchair access has been fitted.

There is a cafe in the Visitor Centre which is quite pricey, and a gift shop (ditto!).  The large toilet block has accessible facilities.  As the beach has very soft sand, you can have free loan of the beach wheelchair or all terrain pushchair. Both are available from the Visitor Centre should you need it. Dogs are not permitted on the Estate between July and September. The Beach Hut has a large wooden shutter with an automatic lift to raise it, this is brilliant because it is very heavy!
